Because of their excellent flexibility, Story Tree Books
can be used for much more than just gifts among family and friends. They can actually help our community
become safer and more educated when used in schools and other organizations. Licensed
and endorsed by the National Crime Prevention Council, the McGruff and Scruff books can be provided to youngsters when delivering
crime and drug prevention programs in schools and other community programs. Each book is personalized to
include the child throughout the story, driving home the points being made about their safety. Sponsors provide the books at no cost to the
program, and receive both positive community attention AND a tax deduction. McGruff often attends on presentation day to help
hand out the books!

Because they are personalized, they encourage reading not only
in elementary grade readers, but also in older readers learning for the first time - whether adult, teen, or foreign students.
Story Tree Books also work wonderfully in programs teaching mentally challenged populations. These books
were presented in three large school districts in San Antonio, Texas, and in both Ronald McDonald Houses in San Antonio.
Recently, they have
been presented twice in the Marshall Independent School District, Marshall, Texas.
